Season’s Greetings from the WSA – 2017’s Highlights

As we draw to the end of another great year for sport in Wales, we wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on the year gone by, and give a sneak peak as to what’s in store for 2018…

For the WSA, highlights from 2017 include the successful launch of our Fit for the Future report in the summer, the launch of our Acorn Executive Search partnership – which has already delivered 16 high calibre Board placements, and the re-invigoration of our advocacy work to ensure that the voices of our members are heard by key stakeholders, opinion formers and policy makers.

2018 will be another big year for sport, as we head straight into the Sport Wales My Welsh Sport_The Conversation consultation events in January. This engagement phase will be completed by the end of that month, so please make sure that you make your views heard by contributing.

The WSA is also working hard to build on the excellent work of the Governance and Leadership Framework to deliver a sector wide Resilience Programme which will ensure the sustainability of sport in Wales for years to come.

We’ll have more information on this in the New Year, so please keep an eye out for any events as we would grateful for your views on the next steps. We’ll also be refreshing our newsletter and providing a monthly political monitoring service, as requested by our members.

And all of this is topped off with the prospect of Welsh Commonwealth medal-winning success on the sun-soaked shores of the Gold Coast in April. In recognition of all the hard work put in by so many to achieve this success, we’d like to send our very best wishes to all of those involved in preparing for the Games – and look forward to seeing the Welsh Dragon flying high in Australia in 2018!
