The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is seeking to appoint a Strategic Head of Women’s and Girls’ Football. The FAW is the governing body of football in Wales and is responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels from grass roots through to the professional game, including the Welsh Women’s Premier League and all International representative squads.
The Strategic Head of Women’s and Girls’ Football will play a lead role in the delivery of the Women’s and Girls’ Football Strategy by leading the collaborative efforts of cross functional and cross company teams in the execution and delivery of the newly redeveloped strategy.
The FAW has set ambitious targets for the growth of football participation in Wales including 50% of young people playing football at least once per week and 20,000 registered female players by 2024. The achievement of this target will position Women’s & Girls’ football as the number one team sport in Wales.
The role of Strategic Head of Women’s and Girls’ Football is a member of the FAW’s senior management team, reporting directly to the CEO. To ensure regular availability the post holder should be resident in the United Kingdom, ideally in or close to Wales. Extensive national and some international travel is required. The post holder must be willing to work unsociable hours and weekends.
