Welsh Sports Association Secures Exciting New Insurance Partnership

Welsh Sports Association (WSA), the membership organisation which represents all National Governing Bodies of sport in Wales has secured sponsorship deals with international insurance companies Integro, who have become the official broker for WSA and Sportscover Europe, the new official insurance underwriting partner. Integro is an international insurance brokerage and risk management firm which is committed to providing first class advice and driving down the cost of insurance for NGBs and this exciting new partnership with WSA has created a revenue share deal never before seen in Welsh sport.

David Griffiths from the Integro Sports Division said about the new partnership: “The opportunity to extend our specialist insurance advice and service in this sector to the Welsh Sports Association members is something that we are very excited about. From our office in Cardiff, we will look to engage with each and every member association to provide the advice that they need to support those playing, coaching and volunteering within sport in Wales.” Richard Brice, who heads up the Integro Cardiff office added “Integro’s financial support is an important factor at a time when the funding of Welsh Sport is being squeezed. Our reciprocal arrangement will be of long term help at the grass roots of sport in Wales and will thereby, in some way, assist in the general health of the country.”

Sportscover is one of the world’s leading specialist sports and leisure insurers, with over 30 years experience. Their partnership with WSA will mean they have the opportunity to quote on all the business introduced through the partnership and in addition offer highly valuable technology systems, such as live streaming which have the ability to greatly enhance the business of its NGB clients.

Sportscover Europe Chief Executive, Martin Crannis spoke with enthusiasm when he said: “We’re very proud to be a partner of the WSA as it demonstrates our commitment to sport in Wales and in all parts of the United Kingdom and throughout Europe. Since I became CEO in 2014 we have been working with a number of organisations to enhance the range of complimentary services to sport such as live streaming and risk management in addition to our core business of insurance. I’m really looking forward to working with the WSA, as well as many Welsh NGBs and WSA members over the coming years.”

This unique and innovative partnership has been formulated with the best interests of Welsh sport at its heart. When commenting on the deal, WSA Chief Officer, Victoria Ward said “As a membership organisation it is important to us that we ensure any commercial deal we secure offers benefits to our members. The deals we have secured with Integro and Sportscover are the first of their kind in Wales to offer such far reaching benefits to the whole of sport. Upfront cash investment, coupled with a generous revenue share programme will help to boost opportunities for NGBs to diversify their income generation streams for the benefit of their sport, whilst also offering the potential to reduce costs”.

The Welsh Sports Association has recently undergone a period of modernisation and this new partnership deal cements a vision for the future that the WSA are committed to implementing; it will provide support for National Governing Bodies, WSA members, athletes & coaches, and better support of the sporting events integral to the progression of sport in Wales. All of these services will also be available in Welsh, bi-lingual insurance and risk management helplines for all NGB members (and their affiliated clubs) are now open and can offer advice on all issues affecting sport.
