Communications and PR Officer – Welsh Cycling

Salary – £20k – £25k dependent on experience

Location – The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, Newport

Contract – Full Time, Permanent

Hours – 37 hours per week, evening and weekend working will be required

Role Description

Are you a Communications specialist with a passion for creative sports journalism? Welsh Cycling, the National Governing Body for cycling in Wales with over 180 clubs, 7000 members and an international stage where Welsh riders have won Commonwealth, World and Olympic titles is looking for a Communications and PR Officer to join their passionate Team.

Working in a small but effective team and reporting directly to the CEO you will have responsibility for PR, Social media (key channels are Instagram, FB, Linked In and Twitter) eCRM development and website content working closely with a team of development and sport officers to create and manage all published content.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience
  • Recognised professional qualifications in Journalism, Public Relations or holds degree in Media or equivalent subject

Knowledge and Experience

  • Oversee and manage one additional team member in the creation of quality content for digital media such as website, social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter)
  • Create and deliver a Content plan, working in partnership with the Welsh Cycling team, partners, sponsors and third parties, to ensure all communications are aligned to the companies values and vision
  • Be able to motivate and influence others. Individual must be able to think creatively and strategically
  • Experience of developing campaigns and producing supporting materials
  • Highly computer literate with expertise in the use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Experience of publishing software (eg Adobe Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Experience of media production (eg video, photography)
  • Ability to work with a range of people both internal and external to the organisation and develop relationship

Skills

  • IT literate
  • Strong communicator, with excellent written, presentation, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisation skills, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Adobe Creative Cloud skills (e.g Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Video production and photography
  • Full driving license
