All Afloat Wales, Wales\u2019 leading charity for enabling children and minorities to access boating and sailing, launched this week at the Channel View Centre, Cardiff.<\/h6>\n

All Afloat allows an access point for any young person to try sailing across North, South and West Wales and The\u00a0Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Cardiff Bay has provided an ideal showcase for the sport.<\/p>\n

Founded by RYA Cymru, All Afloat aim to provide boating opportunities to young people across Wales and further provide them with life skills in addition to sailing qualifications. The charity looks to help get Every Child Hooked On Sport For Life<\/a> now that they are progressing beyond their 2017 pilot phase.<\/p>\n

In 2018, All Afloat are looking to build upon the prior success of over 250 participants, with over 40% of participants continuing beyond taster sessions, by raising sufficient funding to allow for double the number of participants in 2019. Under the guidance of RYA Cymru and the All Afloat Trustees, the organisation will be aiming to fund a programme manager to coordinate between community groups and delivery points to further progress the charity.<\/p>\n

\u201cSailing is an exciting sport, it takes various forms, can be enjoyed as part of a group or as an individual. Whilst we are passionate about getting children physically active and hooked on sport for life, we wish to promote the often-overlooked positive aspects of sailing.<\/em>\u201d – Phil Tilley (Trustee)<\/p>\n
