The latest restraints were put in place to tackle the concerning spread of the Omicron variant, although look to be being removed as cases&nbsp;experience a \u201crapid decline\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drakeford cited the success of the booster campaign as a major factor in Wales\u2019 ability to think about easing restrictions. Over 1.8 million doses of the booster had been provided by January 13, representing 81% of those eligible for one.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOver the next two weeks we can&nbsp;gradually and carefully lift the level of protections we&#8217;ve needed over the Christmas and the New Year period because,&nbsp;from a public health perspective,&nbsp;it will be then safe to do so,\u201d the First Minister said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat we are seeing is a very rapid decline of the number of cases in Wales\u2026&nbsp;backed up by other measures we are seeing in&nbsp;Wales;,&nbsp;that&#8217;s what gives us the space to be able to lift some of the protections we&#8217;ve had and it&#8217;s because of those protections that we are in the more benign position that we are in today,\u201d Drakeford concluded.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on Coronavirus cases remaining low,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Welsh Government&nbsp;reportedly&nbsp;plan to set out a four-step process in order to return to Alert Level 0.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The proposed timeline of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Wales<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-wales-politics-59984873\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" class=\"ek-underline\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">planned process<\/span><\/span><\/a>&nbsp;will be as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Saturday 15 January: Numbers allowed to&nbsp;attend an outdoor event will rise from 50 to 500.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Friday 21 January: Crowds allowed to return to sporting events, paving the way for rugby Six Nations full houses in Cardiff, and no limits on those attending outdoor events.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Friday 28 January: Nightclubs can&nbsp;reopen&nbsp;and hospitality allowed to operate normally, although Covid passes will still be required for large events, plus cinemas, nightclubs and theatres.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thursday 10 February: Wales returns to a three-week review cycle as the country is at alert level 0.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find the Welsh Government\u2019s press release in English&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gov.wales\/first-minister-wales-set-out-plans-ease-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" class=\"ek-underline\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">here<\/span><\/span><\/a>, and in Welsh&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/llyw.cymru\/prif-weinidog-cymru-yn-bwriadu-amlinellu-cynlluniau-i-lacior-cyfyngiadau\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" class=\"ek-underline\">here<\/span><\/span><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The WSA will continue to provide support and guidance to the sport &amp; leisure sector in Wales.\u00a0There are\u00a0some resources for organisations, facilities, clubs and individuals to consider here.\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/wsa.wales\/cy\/dont-drop-the-ball-the-wsa-campaign\/\" class=\"ek-link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" class=\"ek-underline\"><span style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">#Dontdroptheball<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A WSA update on the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in Wales First Minister Mark Drakeford has today revealed that&nbsp;the&nbsp;Welsh Government plan to \u201cgradually\u201d relax COVID-19 restrictions in Wales.
