health and wellbeing in Wales\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/phw.nhs.wales\/\" class=\"ek-link\">Public Health Wales<\/a> have released a new long-term strategy spanning from 2023 to 2035 to work towards a \u201cWales where people live longer, healthier lives\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With partners, Public Health Wales aims to increase healthy life expectancy, improve health and wellbeing, and reduce inequalities for everyone in Wales, now and for future generations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Public Health Wales published the new Long-Term Strategy on Tuesday 30<sup>th<\/sup> May, which sets out the actions it will take to achieve a Wales where people live longer, healthier lives, and where all people have fair and equal access to the things that lead to good health and wellbeing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strategy sets out the organisation\u2019s six strategic priorities for the period 2023 to 2035, and it maps out in detail how it will address those priorities, which are:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Influencing the wider determinants of health&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting mental and social well-being&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting healthy behaviours&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting the development of a sustainable health and care system focused on prevention and early intervention&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delivering excellent public health services to protect the public and maximise population health outcomes&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tackling the public health effects of climate change&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Long-Term Strategy has been developed in order to face new and existing challenges to population health, and to ensure that the organisation\u2019s priorities and ways of working can address these new challenges most effectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new strategy commits Public Health Wales to increasing the proportion of the population who are physically active.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jan Williams OBE, Chair of Public Health Wales said:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe launch of this new strategy is a really exciting moment in the development of Public Health Wales as an organisation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe know that there are significant challenges faced by all of us in Wales today \u2013 whether that is in public health or in wider society.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis strategy now gives us a clear pathway to 2035 in our overarching vision of helping the people of Wales live longer, healthier lives and where all people in Wales have fair and equal access to the things that lead to good health and well-being.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Tracey Cooper, Chief Executive of Public Health Wales, added:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe strategy has been developed alongside our staff, and I am really grateful to them for their efforts.\u00a0 I am excited to work collaboratively with them, as well as our key stakeholders and the
