WSA reappoints Chair of the Board Lynn Pamment and Independent Director Damian Phillips <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Welsh Sports Association<\/a> (WSA) is delighted to announce that, on Thursday 20th<\/sup> July, Lynn Pamment was reappointed as Independent Chair of the Board for the next four years, while Damian Phillips was reappointed as an Independent Director for a further four years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

WSA reappoints Lynn Pamment as Chair<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lynn was appointed Chair in February 2019, and will now serve a second term concluding in 2027.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to acting as the WSA Chair, Lynn is also the Comptroller and Auditor General for Jersey, responsible for running the Jersey Audit Office. In this role, Lynn provides the States of Jersey with independent assurance that the public finances of Jersey are being regulated, controlled and accounted for in accordance with the Law.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to her appointment in Jersey, Lynn was a lead partner in PwC UK\u2019s Government and Public Sector Assurance practice where she gained over 30 years\u2019 experience of working in an assurance and advisory capacity with public and private sector organisations in the UK and beyond. She was also PwC\u2019s Cardiff Office Senior Partner responsible for PwC\u2019s practice of over 250 professional staff in Wales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chair Lynn Pamment commented: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am delighted to have been re-appointed as the Chair of the WSA and am grateful to my fellow directors for the confidence they have shown in me by my re-appointment.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is an honour to continue to be the Chair of the WSA and to continue to work to empower our members to be stronger and more successful, contributing towards a society fit for the future.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe past four years has shown me the incredible contribution to Wales that our members make, supported by the amazing team at the WSA. I look forward to continuing to work with the talented team and the talented Board at the WSA over the next few years to make the sector even more resilient for the future.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading Lawyer Damian Phillips reappointed as Independent Director<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the same Board meeting on the 20th<\/sup> of July, the WSA\u2019s legal advisor Damian Phillips was also reappointed as an Independent Director for the next four years.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cardiff-based employment lawyer was appointed as an Independent Director in July 2019, and will continue for a second term coming to an end in 2027. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Damian has over 20 years\u2019 legal experience, twelve of which have been spent as a Partner in Darwin Gray\u2019s renowned employment team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has considerable experience of advising employers and senior executives in respect of complex and often high value employment disputes and non-contentious employment law issues.  Damian also specialises in advising professional sports people on employment matters, particularly high-profile international rugby players and coaches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following his re-appointment, Damian stated: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m grateful to my fellow directors for their confidence in me and am proud to sit on the WSA\u2019s Board with them.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have thoroughly enjoyed the last four years contributing to the WSA\u2019s work and am delighted that I will be able to continue working with such a talented and hardworking executive team.  The reward is witnessing the WSA going from strength to strength as the leading voice of the sports and leisure sectors in Wales.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With both having contributed so much and been so valuable to the WSA over the previous four years, the organisation is delighted to have them stay on in their roles on the Board.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
