Team Wales welcomes the announcement from Commonwealth Sport that the 8th Commonwealth Youth Games will take place in Malta in late 2027.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Games, which bring together athletes aged 14\u201318 from across the Commonwealth, will see around 1,150 young competitors from 74 nations and territories compete in eight sports. The programme includes Athletics<\/strong> and Para Athletics<\/strong>, Netball<\/strong>, Squash<\/strong>, Swimming <\/strong>and Para Swimming<\/strong>, Triathlon<\/strong>, Weightlifting<\/strong>, and for the first time at a CYG, Sailing <\/strong>and Water Polo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The announcement reflects a continued commitment from the Commonwealth Games Federation to promote opportunity, inclusion, and youth engagement across all member nations \u2013 particularly in small and island states. Malta\u2019s dual-island concept, (similar to the Trinbago Games two years ago), will showcase world-class venues across Malta and Gozo, supported by athlete villages located in hotels on both islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This edition of the Games will feature the largest Para sport programme in CYG history, with Para Swimming added for the first time \u2013 a move that builds on the successful inclusion of Para Athletics in Trinidad and Tobago 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rebecca Edwards-Symmons<\/strong>, Chief Executive of Team Wales, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to see Malta announced as the host for the 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games.
