Thing. deliver lunchtime learning session<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, the WSA were delighted to welcome Alex Townshend, Head of Environmental and Social economic Impact at \u2018You. Smart. Thing.\u2019 to their very first lunchtime learning session for WSA members!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colleagues on the call, explored how personalised travel planning is becoming one of the most powerful tools sports organisations have to improve the fan experience, capture audience data, unlock new revenue generation avenues, and give marketing, security and operations teams greater visibility and control over how fans and participants travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"252\" src=\"https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/YST_Product-300x252.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29807\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/YST_Product-300x252.png 300w, https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/YST_Product-1024x861.png 1024w, https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/YST_Product-768x645.png 768w, https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/YST_Product-1536x1291.png 1536w, https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/YST_Product-2048x1721.png 2048w, https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/YST_Product-14x12.png 14w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fan and participants experience starts long before kick-off. \u2018You. Smart. Thing.\u2019 enables sports organisations to influence fan behaviour before they arrive \u2013 delivering personalised door-to-door travel plans from the moment a ticket is purchased. Plans that reflect event-day reality: road closures, shuttle buses, dedicated drop-off points, accessible routes and last-mile options \u2013 not generic mapping tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alex discussed one of their most recent and and real-world case studies &#8211; The R&amp;A\u2019s AIG Women\u2019s Open in 2025 at Royal Porthcawl, Wales and also detailed how the software can add wider value i.e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Deliver personalised low-carbon travel plans across all transport modes \u2013 nothing for fans to download or install<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engage fans throughout the build-up to an event, influencing how they choose to travel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase revenues through partner integrations, affiliate links and context-aware content at the point of travel planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give operations and safety teams early visibility of fan travel intentions and arrival patterns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce the carbon footprint of visitor travel \u2013 typically the largest part of an event\u2019s environmental impact<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capture rich travel behaviour data to support ESG reporting and inform future planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With case studies spanning major championships and events across the UK and beyond, the session explored what best practice looks like and what it could mean for Welsh sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those members that missed the session, there is the ability to <a href=\"https:\/\/wsa.wales\/cy\/user-login\/\">log-in to the membership section<\/a>, and view the <a href=\"https:\/\/wsa.wales\/cy\/our-services\/sports-advocacy-and-policy\/sector-webinars-recordings\/\"><strong>recording here<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you to colleagues at You.
