{"id":8761,"date":"2017-09-20T15:15:11","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T14:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wsa.wales\/?p=8761"},"modified":"2019-09-04T16:27:42","modified_gmt":"2019-09-04T15:27:42","slug":"welsh-government-publishes-prosperity-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wsa.wales\/cy\/welsh-government-publishes-prosperity-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"Welsh Government Publishes Prosperity Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>First Minister Carwyn Jones announced the publication of&nbsp;\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/gov.wales\/docs\/strategies\/170919-prosperity-for-all-en.pdf\">Prosperity for All\u201d<\/a>, an overarching, national strategy to delivering key Welsh Government priorities.<\/h3>\n<p>Building on the commitments in the <a href=\"http:\/\/gov.wales\/about\/programme-for-government\/?lang=en\">Programme for Government<\/a>,&nbsp;the strategy&nbsp;is &#8220;designed to drive integration and collaboration across the Welsh public sector, and put people at the heart of improved service delivery&#8221;. The four headline themes of the original strategy publication &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/gov.wales\/docs\/strategies\/160920-taking-wales-forward-en.pdf\">Taking Wales Forward<\/a>&#8221; are reiterated (Prosperous and Secure, Healthy and Active, Ambitious and Learning, and United and Connected), and it notes five &#8220;cross cutting&#8221; areas which have been identified as priorities for the remainder of the Assembly term (until May 2021):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>early years;<\/li>\n<li>housing;<\/li>\n<li>social care;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8764 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/wsa.wales\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Prosperity-for-All-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"273\"><\/li>\n<li>mental health;<\/li>\n<li>and skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Within the <strong>Healthy and Active<\/strong> section, it notes that the three objectives are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Delivering quality health and care services,<\/li>\n<li>promoting health and well-being,<\/li>\n<li>building better communities and better environments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The document also outlines commitments to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Support and encourage a substantial increase in people\u2019s physical activity<\/strong>, adopting a collaborative approach from&nbsp;all&nbsp;agencies involved in the promotion of healthier lifestyles, and drawing on Wales\u2019 significant natural resources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Develop innovative, community approaches to encouraging more active lifestyles<\/strong> and improving nutrition through the Well-being Bond.<\/li>\n<li>Deliver an integrated public transport network which supports our aim to <strong>enable people to travel more actively<\/strong>, by combining different types of transport with walking and cycling.<\/li>\n<li>Introduce a step-change in public health campaign work, with measurable outcomes and targets, focusing on avoidable diseases, and building awareness of the <strong>positive benefits to people of healthier lifestyles<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Work to<strong> tackle health inequalities both in terms of individual well-being and access to services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Further detail is required on the plans underpinning the delivery of these commitments. The WSA understands that further information on &#8220;Prosperous and Secure&#8221; will be published in the Autumn in the form of an economic statement.
