Business Support Officer
Part-time Business Support Officer Emyr joined WSA in May 2020 on a full-time secondment from Sport Wales. He now splits his time between us and Sport Wales where he is an admin officer.
His main responsibilities here include supporting the wider team, maintaining our extensive customer databases, researching membership opportunities and promoting our Partner offerings to members. He strives to make sure members are kept up to date with the latest issues and developments in the sector, so he keeps the website updated with stories, researches the wider industry and writes articles of interest to ensure we’re sharing information about changes within the sport sector in real-time.
After gaining his degree in law at university, he’s held varied roles including an operations assistant at a microbrewery and conveyancing within established law firms in South Wales. He has brought a wide range of skills to the role here and has been able to take a lead role in a number of our projects. Most recently he led our Kickstart Scheme which aims to get young people onto the employment ladder and hopefully on the path to a successful future. The scheme also supports member organisations at a time when many are feeling considerable financial and operational strains.
We pride ourselves on supporting members in the Welsh language as much as possible too, and fluent Welsh speaker Emyr has been able to assist members who don’t have a Welsh speaker on board with a number of requests so don’t hesitate to contact him with any enquires.
A keen sports enthusiast, Emyr has taken part in a few ultra-distance cycle tours and is now ‘quite obsessed’ with triathlons!
“It’s a great place to work and rest assured that team members really do go to extra lengths to ensure members are supported in any way needed.”
