Helen is a former Vice President of National Operations at McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd. During her 29 years with McDonald’s Helen progressed from a 16 year old Crew Member serving and preparing food for customers, to become the company’s first female Vice President for Operations. In 2006 Helen became a member of the McDonald’s UK Executive Team, sharing responsibility for developing McDonald’s UK strategy and business plan and was accountable for all aspects of restaurant operations and support.
Helen has been a recipient of numerous awards including the McDonald’s President’s Award, given to the top 1% of employees worldwide and the Everywoman, Women in Retail ‘Inspiration of the Year’ award in recognition of her work setting up McDonald’s UK Women’s Leadership Network and the UK Women’s Leadership Development Programme.
Since leaving McDonald’s Helen has spent time doing pro bono work with social enterprises and local organisations to help deliver social mobility opportunities for young people; an area for which she has a real passion.
Helen spent two years as Chair of Sport Wales Advisory Group, developing the recently launched ‘Give to Gain’ concept and the ‘Acting Today for an Active Tomorrow’ report and is also a Trustee for Torfaen Leisure Trust. Helen speaks regularly at leadership events.
