Jonathan is the former CEO of the Football Association of Wales and member of the International Football Association Board. His remit included the promotion of the game at all levels, from the grassroots through the clubs and leagues to the national teams. Leading a team of 75, key responsibilities included P&L management, commercial negotiations, stakeholder management, media and brand management as well as the governance of the sport in Wales.
Jonathan is now a strategic consultant working primarily within the sports sector on strategic leadership, governance and change programmes for International Federations, National Governing Bodies and Associations, Leagues and Clubs. Key clients include UEFA, Member Associations and FIFA Member Associations. Working internationally with markets in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia.
Prior to his role at the FAW, Jonathan was European Sponsorship Director of the Coca-Cola Company (TCCC), with responsibility for developing & implementing business building strategies across the company’s brand portfolio throughout Europe through the leveraging of global sports sponsorship programmes. Key sport sponsorships included the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the UEFA European Championships 2008 and the Beijing Summer & Torino Winter Olympic Games.
Previously within TCCC, Jonathan was the global General Manager on the UEFA European Championships 2004, based in the Lisbon office, responsible for delivering all elements of the global sponsorship programme up to and during the event.
Jonathan was initially head-hunted into the GB Division of TCCC, as Head of Sponsorship with responsibilities for all domestic sponsorships including the Football Association, Wimbledon, the British Open, The Commonwealth Games and many more.
Previously to joining Coca-Cola, Jonathan held numerous positions on the rightsholder side, working for key media owners including MTV (Music Television) where his last position was Project Director, responsible for the key international clients & sponsorship programmes, including the MTV Europe Music Awards.
