Cardiff Met strengthens Welsh sport sector links through WSA Associate Membership
The WSA is delighted to welcome Cardiff Met to its membership base as an Associate Member, further strengthening connections across Wales’ sport, physical activity and recreation sector.
Cardiff Metropolitan University has a long-standing commitment to sport, performance, participation and community impact, and is delivering a strategic ambition to be recognised as Wales’ Sporting University. Through its work across student sport, performance pathways, sport science, physical activity, facilities, community programmes and sector partnerships, the university plays a significant role in supporting the development of sport in Wales.
Its arrival within the WSA membership base builds on an already positive relationship between the two organisations. Most recently, Cardiff Met and the WSA worked together to deliver the Media Super-Powers for Sport training course, providing communications and content professionals from across the WSA membership with a specialist CPD opportunity free of charge.
Cardiff Met also has a strong history of collaboration with organisations across the Welsh sporting landscape. Through academic partnerships, student placements, applied research, broadcasting, content creation, event support and performance sport expertise, the university has supported governing bodies, clubs and sector partners in a range of ways.
As an Associate Member, Cardiff Met will look to deepen those relationships, contribute to shared sector conversations and explore further opportunities to collaborate with WSA members. The university will also benefit from the WSA’s work across advocacy, professional development, sustainability, safeguarding and wider organisational support.
Laura Williams, Assistant Director of Sport, Physical Activity and Health at Cardiff Metropolitan University, said:
