WSA Lunchtime Learning – VAT for Sports Clubs and Associations
The WSA has teamed up with Hodge Bakshi Chartered Tax Advisers and Accountants to provide an online Lunchtime Learning session covering the basic VAT rules and how they apply to sports clubs and associations.
In this Lunch & Learn, James Burnett, Chartered Accountant, will provide a practical overview of VAT for sports clubs, including when a club needs to register for VAT, the VAT treatment of different income streams, such as membership subscriptions, sponsorship, grants and donations, catering, merchandise and facility hire etc.
The session will also look at VAT exemptions available to eligible sports clubs and associations, as well as the rules around reclaiming VAT on costs, including where expenditure relates to taxable, exempt or non-business activities.
James will also highlight some of the common VAT pitfalls.
This practical session will help clubs and associations gain a better understanding of their VAT responsibilities and identify areas where they may need to review their current VAT treatment.
Who should attend? This session is aimed at treasurers, finance officers, administrators, trustees and committee members of sports clubs and associations who want to better understand their VAT responsibilities and avoid common VAT pitfalls.
