National Software Academy Student-Industry Live Projects

National Software Academy Student-Industry Live Projects

If you are not aware, as part of their software engineering degrees, students at the National Software Academy work with real-clients on software-based ideas or problems to apply their academic knowledge and develop their ‘soft skills’ to make them work-ready when they graduate.  We now welcome you to submit any ideas or business problems for 2026-27 academic session.

What are the projects?

Please click this link to our NSA Projects Information – where you can read more details about how the projects operate, and what’s involved.

Essentially, the projects are designed to provide students with the valuable skills and experience they need when they graduate to secure employment within the sector as part of their programme.

Projects timeline

Approximate timeline for projects:

  • Submission of ideas: now-to-15th September
    • We reserve the right to close the form early if we receive enough good quality projects – we can only run a limited number!
  • Our consideration of proposals: early-October
  • Confirmation [to organisations] of successful projects: by late-October
  • Short projects run: mid-November to mid-December (specific dates)
  • Major projects run: late-January to late-April OR mid-June to late-Aug

The WSA worked with the NSA recently to develop a proof of concept for a volunteer App which will be available for members in the coming months. We found the opportunity to work with extremely talented Cardiff University students a wonderful experience and without this, we wouldn’t have had the confidence to proceed with the App development.
