Emerging from the Firebreak

Emerging from the Firebreak

The First Minister, Mark Drakeford MS has given indications as to what Wales’ post-firebreak Covid regulations will look like on the 9th November.

The current “firebreak”, which has temporarily halted most sporting activity in Wales will end on the 9th November 2020. Sporting facilities have been given the go ahead to reopen from this date. Activities indoors look set to be limited to 15 participants, with up to 30 able to participate outdoors.

In the outdoor environment, this will be a return to the situation we were in before the local lockdowns began in Caerphilly. There will no longer be requirement for people to stay within their local authority boundary, so responsible activity outdoors will be able to restart.

The WSA is working with colleagues to understand what this will mean for the sector urgently. We have concerns that a step back to 15 participants indoors, from the the 30 that had been permitted up to the firebreak will cause real financial pressures for our providers and facilities.

A variety of financial support packages are available to the sector, please get in contact with any queries around accessing these.
