Welsh Cycling is gearing up for an electrifying start to its 50th year celebrations with an adrenaline-pumping track event scheduled from 3-4 November 2023. Held at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome alongside Newport Live, this two-day spectacle promises to deliver top-class racing, an upbeat atmosphere, and a showcase of spectacular racing.
As Welsh Cycling celebrates its 50th Year, we wanted to kick off in style with a two-day track event which will see top riders from across the UK and Europe compete across a thrilling schedule which will include track sprinting, madison, points, Omnium and more.
We’ll also have up and coming riders from Wales compete across some youth and junior competitions. Aside from the action on the track, there will be an in-house DJ providing a lively atmosphere and backdrop to the racing.
Welsh Cycling’s CEO, Caroline Spanton said: “The track event at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome is a highlight of our 50th year celebrations. It’s a testament to the passion and dedication of our riders and fans alike. We are thrilled to witness top-class racing, the vibrant energy of the crowd, and the emergence of young talents on this momentous occasion.”
Getting involved in the event
There are many ways people, companies or organisations can get involved with the event. Alongside the racing, the track centre will be host to our hospitality section across the two evenings.

For spectators, there will be more ways to engage with the history of the organisation in new and innovative ways, but these promise to give the audience a new insight into the history and breadth of work and success Welsh Cycling has achieved over 50 years.
