The organisation has a long tradition in the world of motorcycle sport, being a founding member of the World Governing Body, the Federation Internationale Motocyclisme (FIM).

The ACU has a major role in furthering the interests of motorcycle sport on a global basis, representing 23,000 licence holders, 10,000 volunteer Marshals and Officials, 400 members Clubs, divided into 20 centres and issuing up to 2,000 motorcycle sport permits each year.

It provides for all forms of motorcycle sport ranging from Road Racing to all disciplines of Off-Road activity, and has successfully organised world class events such as Moto GP, World Superbikes, the Isle of Man TT Races, the Motocross of Nations and Trials Des Nations.

As a member of the WSA, the ACU will take advantage of the extensive network spanning the sector as well as services such as the WSA’s DBS service for sport and leisure.

Commenting on the organisation’s arrival as a Full Member of the WSA, ACU CEO, Matthew Edwards-Wear, stated:

“We are delighted to be joining the WSA and to be able to work with the WSA and the wider stakeholders within the WSA to benefit our organisers who run many successful events within Wales each year.

“We can also bring our knowledge and expertise to the WSA which the other members and stakeholders can benefit from. Enduro is the major sport in Wales and looking towards 2027 when we are hopeful of bringing the biggest Enduro event in the world to Wales in the form of the International Six Day Enduro (ISDE), it highlights how important our organisers and access to precious land is in Wales to our sport and its continued growth.”
