Congratulations to Joanna Owen the newly appointed Chief Executive for BowlsWales
BowlsWales are delighted to announce that the Board has appointed Joanna Owen as Chief Executive of BowlsWales, effective July 2026.
Joanna joined BowlsWales in November 2025 as General Manager and has, in a short space of time, made an outstanding contribution to the organisation. Her work has spanned governance and strategic development, safeguarding, Commonwealth Games preparation, funding, and communications, including the development of our Strategy 2026–2030.
Beyond BowlsWales, Joanna also sits on the executive committee of the Welsh NGB CEO Forum, where she has played a key role in the sector-wide campaign for increased Welsh Government investment in sport — including the recent letter to the Cabinet Minister for Culture and Sport. This work reflects the calibre of strategic leadership she brings, not only to bowls but to the wider Welsh sporting sector.
