Cricket Wales and Glamorgan Cricket launch fresh strategies
Welsh Sports Association (WSA) members Cricket Wales and Glamorgan Cricket have simultaneously launched new strategies for 2025-2028, reshaping the future of cricket in Wales and reinforcing a shared vision to grow cricket across the nation from recreational grassroots right through to elite performance.
Criced: A Sport for All
Developed in partnership with Glamorgan Cricket and in collaboration with key partners including Sport Wales, the ECB, Chance to Shine, and Lord’s Taverners, the plan is a bold, inclusive, and people-powered roadmap to grow the game for everyone, everywhere in Wales.
At the core of Cricket Wales’ strategy lies a revitalised vision, Criced: A Sport for All, that reimagines cricket as far more than just a game. It’s a unifying force, a shared experience where every child stepping onto the pitch, every individual finding their rightful place in the game, every volunteer offering time and heart, every club embracing local pride, and every community rallying behind the stumps, can see cricket not merely as a sport, but as a place of belonging. A space where inclusion flourishes, passion finds its purpose, and everyone, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance, feels seen, valued, and deeply connected.
People and Culture are at the centre of our vision and Together we will Lead and Care for a Sport that can have a lasting impact on our communities across the whole of Wales
The mission is clear and urgent, Protecting What’s Precious. Revolutionising the Future.
“As we look ahead, we are not just safeguarding a tradition, we are revolutionising the future of our game. As a proud cricketing collective, alongside our partners at Glamorgan, this strategy honours the sport we love, from grassroots to the elite level,” said Barry Cawte, CEO of Cricket Wales.
“This strategy reflects the voices of our cricketing community and the values we hold dear. It is our shared game plan for progress. Together with Glamorgan Cricket and our wider cricketing family, we will lead a transformation rooted in inclusion, integrity, and community.”
“We simply can’t achieve this bold and ambitious vision without our partners the ECB, Sport Wales, Lord Taverners, Chance to Shine and most importantly all of our people, clubs and volunteers right across the Welsh Criced community”.
Guided by Cricket Wales’ core values: Together. Lead. Care, these values underpin every aspect of the strategy and will inform decision-making, action, and accountability across all levels of the game.
Built around five strategic pillars and three foundations including People & Culture, Thriving Clubs, Women & Girls, Facilities, EDI, and more, the plan outlines a once-in-a-generation opportunity to grow a game that is inclusive, sustainable, and accessible in every corner of Wales.

Glamorgan Cricket launches 2025–2028 strategy to ‘Make Wales Proud’
Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Wales’ only first-class county, carries both the responsibility and the privilege of representing the nation on the highest stages of domestic, international, and franchise cricket. The Club has a vision to Make Wales Proud and wants to be consistently recognised as a top eight Club within the evolving UK cricket landscape — excelling on the pitch, developing elite players, engaging communities, and delivering world-class facilities.
Speaking about the new strategy, Glamorgan’s CEO Dan Cherry said:
“The UK cricket landscape is changing rapidly. Being one of the eight host venues in The Hundred competition has put us in a strong position to reap the best possible rewards from the recent Project Gemini investment process. It presents opportunities for Glamorgan County Cricket Club that we have never had before and, with this strategy, we intend to grasp them and embed ourselves as one of the top eight Clubs in the UK.”
Guided by six strategic objectives, Glamorgan’s plan focuses on developing international and franchise-level players, delivering a successful Welsh Fire partnership, enhancing Sophia Gardens as a leading venue, investing in people and organisational strength, increasing the number of people engaging with the Club, and delivering breakthrough growth in revenue generation.
