Welsh Fire vs Birmingham Phoenix – The Hundred Women’s

The Hundred returns for its second edition this August!

Welsh Fire kick off their campaign with a very tough home tie against Birmingham Phoenix, who fared very well in last year’s competition. Phoenix finished third in the group stage and, despite losing to eventual campions Oval Invincibles in the eliminator, will head into this year’s edition full of optimism.

Welsh Fire will look to crush that hope as they take to the Sophia Gardens field with the intention of playing out a much better tournament than last time out, having been rooted to the foot of the group last year.

There’ll be many exciting players taking to the field for Welsh Fire with the likes of Katie George running out once more, while Barbados international Hayley Matthews goes into this tournament having ranked fifth for runs scored in last year’s competition – she’s one to watch! Birmingham have their own big-hitter in Evelyn Jones while Kirstie Gordon took a whopping 15 wickets last year.
