Female Founders Launch Captains Clubhouse: A Groundbreaking New Platform for Team Leaders in Sport
Cardiff UK – A dynamic new platform designed to support and empower sports captains has officially launched. Captains Clubhouse, co-founded by female leaders Ria Burrage-Male and Vicki Sutton is a first-of-its-kind digital community created specifically for team captains — helping them grow as leaders, connect with peers, and navigate the unique challenges of the role, no matter their experience or performance level.
Born from lived experience, Captains Clubhouse recognises the often-overlooked pressures captains face in sport; and offers the support, resources, and community they rarely receive. From grassroots teams to elite environments, the platform provides video tools, leadership guidance, community spaces and exclusive content shaped by captains, for captains.
“We’ve both worked with captains and lived the captaincy experience; the highs, the pressure, the isolation,” said former NGB CEO and co-founder Vicki Sutton “Captains are expected to lead, motivate, manage conflict and set the tone, but they’re rarely given the tools or compensation to do that well. We created Captains Clubhouse to change that.”
What makes the launch even more significant is that Captains Clubhouse is one of the few sports startups in the UK led by two female co-founders.
“We’re proud to be two women building something bold in a space often led by men,” said Ria Burrage-Male, also a former CEO in the sports industry. “This isn’t just a leadership tool; it’s a movement to give captains of all ages and levels the confidence and connection they deserve.”
