How the WSA can Support UK Sport & Leisure Organisations

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is the membership body for the sport and leisure industry in Wales, providing leadership, advocacy and a gateway to business & governance services for the sector.

The WSA define the ‘sport & leisure industry’ to mean anyone involved in the business of sport and leisure, so if you’re a UK organisation that runs sporting events, fitness sessions, leisure classes or club matches in Wales, the WSA would be happy to support you.

The WSA’s work…

WSA members are at the core of the WSA’s work, and although based in Wales, it is not essential that member organisations are based here too.

As representatives for the sport & leisure sector, the WSA work collaboratively with organisations throughout the UK and Wales – including key strategic partners like Sport Wales, Welsh Government, the Welsh Council for Voluntary Action and Community Leisure UK.

The WSA ensure support services are designed with your specific needs in mind, so that the members activities in Wales are sustainable and set up for success.

The WSA’s team of staff in Wales can advise on the specific regulatory landscape in Wales, the Welsh language, differences in the school curriculum and a whole host of other issues. The WSA are here to make sure you can operate effectively and efficiently in Wales.

One of the WSA’s most popular services…

One of the most popular elements of the WSA’s work include its DBS checking service for sport & leisure, which is run through its trading arm Vibrant Nation.

The bi-lingual DBS checking service was set up as part of the WSA’s commitment to ensure sport and physical activity was safe for everyone to enjoy.

The DBS service has been tested and approved by the Ministry of Justice and The Home Office, so sports organisations can be sure it is up-to-date and of the highest quality.

Many UK bodies are now enquiring into this service, as it’s highly cost effective and offers features that align to working in the sport & leisure sector.

WSA member benefits and how to apply…

There are a wealth of benefits available to members in addition to the DBS service for sport & leisure and the WSA would welcome organisations across the UK to take advantage.
