Who we are
Street Football Wales is a charity on a mission. We use street football to bring people together, creating welcoming, judgement-free spaces for people with lived experience of homelessness and social exclusion.
We’re proud of what we’ve built and ambitious about where we’re heading. As an FAW affiliate partner and official Homeless World Cup partner, we represent Wales at the annual global tournament while creating opportunities and building communities here at home.
To help us go further, we need the right people around the table.
What we are looking for
We are recruiting for a number of new trustees to join our Board. We encourage anyone to apply but particularly need people with expertise in:
•Finance
•Governance
•Fundraising
•Human Resources/Legal
•Relevant lived Experience
•Commercial Skills
If one of those areas describes you, and you care about what we do, we would love to hear from you. You do not need previous board experience. You do need commitment, curiosity, and a genuine belief that sport can be a force for good.
A day in the life of a Street Football Wales trustee will involve:
•Preparing for and contributing to Board meetings — reviewing papers, asking questions, and helping the organisation make sound decisions
•Providing expert guidance in your specialist area — whether that is reviewing management accounts, advising on a governance matter, exploring a fundraising opportunity, or supporting a people challenge
•Holding the CEO to account in a supportive and constructive way
•Opening up opportunities for Street Football Wales through your network
•Keeping up to date with the charity’s work, performance, and external environment
•Attending sub-committee meetings relevant to your specialism
•Occasionally attending organisational events or contributing between formal meetings when needed
•Being an ambassador for Street Football Wales and the communities we serve
To be a successful trustee, you will need:
•A genuine commitment to Street Football Wales and the communities we serve
•The ability to think strategically and engage constructively with fellow board members
•Sound judgement and a willingness to ask difficult questions when needed
•Respect for diversity and a commitment to equity and inclusion
•Reliable availability for meetings and reasonable responsiveness between them
•Ideally, you’ll have some relevant professional expertise in Finance, Governance, Fundraising, Commercial Skills, Legal/HR or relevant lived experience — you do not need all these skillsets. We are looking for individuals who each bring their own specialism to the table
