WSA and Cardiff Met University launch Media Super-Powers for Sport course
Alongside Cardiff Metropolitan University, the Welsh Sports Association is delighted to invite members to attend the brand-new Media Super-Powers for Sport training course.
This collaborative initiative comes following a successful joint funding bid, which will now enable Communications Officers and Content Creators across WSA member organisations to attend a dedicated, specialist CPD opportunity free of charge.
Twenty-four fully funded places will be offered for this course.
Apply for the course here! The deadline to apply is Monday 9th February.
* Please note, the purchase of the ticket does not confirm your place on the course, but forms an application before approval.
The programme, Media Super-Powers for Sport, will equip National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and wider sport sector professionals with the tools, techniques, and confidence to amplify their media output, and strengthen regional identity, civic and community engagement, and visibility of sport across Wales.
Delivered by expert lecturers and technicians from Cardiff Metropolitan University’s broadcast media department, this dynamic and practical course will provide hands-on experience in modern, cost-effective content creation.
Within the course, delegates will focus on:
- Content creation
- Digital storytelling
- Event promotion
- Design skills
- Short form easy wins
- Running media days and press conferences
- Captioning content
- Framing and lighting pre- and post-match interviews
Those attending will learn to create digital-first content to help amplify their message, shout about their events, celebrate their successes, attract new members and inspire the next generation.
They’ll learn to use a range of free editing and design apps plus they’ll get their hands on the new DJI Osmo Pocket Camera, a must have piece of kit in the social media content creator sector.
The Media Super-Powers for Sport course will take place over four days in total and will run as two intensive two-day sessions across March and June of 2026, at Cardiff Met’s Cyncoed Campus.
- Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th March 2026
- Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd June 2026
Accommodation can be provided for delegates travelling more than one hour to the venue. Delegates will need to attend all four days. Delegates will be responsible for purchasing their own food and drinks (onsite vendors available).
Following the fourth and final day, there will be a presentation ceremony to celebrate the delegates’ achievements in completing the course.
