WSA host successful second Facilities Community event

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) hosted its second WSA ‘Facilities Community’ event on Tuesday 20 May 2025, hosting an online session for members and partners.

It was an opportunity for those working within sport and leisure Facilities to collaborate and share best practice, with both members and partners of the WSA contributing valuable insight. We heard from:

  • Martin Jones, a Partner at Hugh James, about Martyn’s Law and the impact on facility operators.
  • Jon Stock of PureCyber about the Cyber Impact of Martyn’s Law.
  • Tony Evans, from Rhyl RFC, about the club’s Energy Savings Grant award.
  • Stuart Baker from Tennis Wales about the operation of community facilities from an NGB’s perspective
  • Colin Huffen from CIMSPA about the sector workforce
  • Rhiannon Dale, a Partner at Hugh James, about the Workers Rights Bill
Read about the second edition of the WSA Facilities Community, an event that brought together members and partners working with facilities.

All WSA members and their associated clubs were welcome to join and contribute.  The session is now available on the website (behind the membership log-in) should members wish to share with their colleagues or member clubs.

Those individuals that attended the most recent Facilities Community webinar will be awarded ¾ CIMSPA CPD points.

To add these CPD points onto the CIMSPA portal, all participants need to do is forward confirmation of attendance to [email protected]

The WSA will be looking to run the next Facilities Community as a face-to-face, to give our Facility operators an opportunity to meet and network, as well as take away some learnings.

The proposed date for our in-person event is Thursday 18 September 2025 – timings and venue details are to be confirmed, but the teams are planning a morning session circa 10.00am – please pencil this date into your diaries!
