WSA partner Hugh James discusses impacts of DMCCA with members

In February, WSA partner Hugh James joined members for a Lunchtime Learning session in which they discussed the implications of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA).

Mark Loosemore and Daniel Tedd addressed an online audience in a focused 25-minite session to run through how the DMCCA will reshape subscription models across the sport sector.

From memberships and season tickets to streaming and digital access, the new rules introduce detailed requirements around pre-contract information, renewal notices, cancellation rights and cooling-off periods.

Mark and Daniel talked about what sporting bodies, clubs and service providers must do to prepare for compliance ahead of the reforms taking effect later this year.

From the obligations and practical steps organisations must take to update terms and processes, to how to manage the risks of non-compliance while maintaining a positive supporter experience, the session was incredibly valuable to all who attended.
