WSA welcome Cardiff Rugby to membership base
Cardiff Rugby has joined the Welsh Sports Association (WSA) membership base as an Associate Member.
Cardiff Rugby were formed in 1876 and are one of four professional teams in Wales, based at the Cardiff Arms Park next door to the Principality Stadium.
Currently competing in the United Rugby Championship and Challenge Cup, Cardiff Rugby won European Challenge Cup titles in 2010 and 2018, beating Toulon and Gloucester respectively.
Cardiff Rugby remains proud of its heritage as well as the wider area it now represents, the many renowned clubs within it and their own unique achievements.
As well as running one of five Welsh rugby academies, age group teams and the semi-professional Cardiff RFC side, Cardiff Rugby also use rugby as a vehicle for social good in the local community.

Committed to delivering opportunities for all, the club currently runs an Inclusive Community Club in Rhondda Fach, delivers rugby programmes in Special Educational Needs schools and works in partnership with the Welsh Deaf Rugby Union, for example.
As a WSA Member, Cardiff Rugby looks forward to utilising the extensive network available to members and further explore areas around sustainable sport.
Cardiff Rugby’s Managing Director, Jamie Muir, commented:
“We’re delighted to join the WSA and connect with such a strong network across Welsh sport. This partnership will support our ambitions on and off the field, particularly around sustainability and community impact.”
WSA CEO, Andrew Howard, added:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Cardiff Rugby, another professional rugby club, to the diverse WSA membership network.
“I have already had the pleasure of meeting with senior officials at the Club on two occasions, and I am confident that we will not only be able to support the Club in achieving its ambitions, but also ensure that our wider membership benefits from the skills and experience that collaborative opportunities will provide. We look forward to supporting the organisation in its endeavours and to fostering collaboration across the wider sector.”
