British American Football Association joins WSA as Full Member

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is happy to announce that the British American Football Association (BAFA) has joined the membership base as a Full Member!

BAFA is responsible for all regulatory, competition, performance and development aspects of American Football in Britain.

They have many responsibilities, including the organisation and promotion of all amateur domestic national competitions as well as the organisation and promotion of the national teams in international competition.

BAFA strives to promote American Football to people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities across the UK and provide opportunities for their engagement and development. They regulate the game on and off the field through oversite of its rules while also representing the British game to national and international partners, be they sporting organisations, federations, or commercial interests.

As a Full Member, BAFA will take advantage of the WSA’s resources including making savings through the Procurement Portal for Sport & Leisure, promoting vacancies and events across the WSA network, looking to make use of our governance templates, as well as utilising our recently launched Online Training Platform for IT and governance training!

Speaking about their arrival into the WSA membership base, BAFA CEO Pete Ackerley said:

“We are delighted to have been accepted as a Full Member of the WSA.

Pete Ackerley, CEO of the British American Football Association

“BAFA has a long-term vision to professionalise British American Football and being able to access the support and resources provided through the WSA will help us as we work to develop a high-performing National Governing Body and inspire people to play the game. In particular, our membership with the WSA will be hugely valuable as we look to grow participation in Wales.”

WSA CEO Andrew Howard added:

“We’re thrilled to welcome the British American Football Association into our ever-growing membership base.

“It’s an exciting time for BAFA on their journey towards developing themselves as an NGB and growing participation throughout Wales and the WSA looks forward to supporting them. The WSA strives to promote and develop its membership base, and are excited to collaborate with yet another member!”
