Hockey Wales Enlists Joymo as Exclusive Live Streaming Partner
HOCKEY WALES ENLISTS JOYMO AS EXCLUSIVE LIVE STREAMING PARTNER
WSA Partner Joymo has scored a multi-year deal with WSA member Hockey Wales to become the National Governing Body’s exclusive live streaming provider.
The agreement will see the pioneering grassroots streaming service broadcast Hockey Wales’ national team and cup competitions exclusively, working with the NGBs 80 member clubs across the country to deliver first-class content directly to fans.
The new partnership is a result of Joymo’s previously announced deal as the Official Live Streaming Partner of Welsh Sports Association (WSA), the membership body for the sport and leisure industry in Wales. The agreement sees Joymo work closely with the WSA’s members to accelerate their direct-to-fan streaming ambitions.
Joymo’s live video streaming platform is for athletes, teams and sports, at every level of competition, enabling them to broadcast their content directly to fans who can watch live or on demand. Content producers can charge supporters per game, competition or event or offer a longer-term season ticket, with revenues going back directly to the content generators..
Through innovative technology – including a dedicated app, an over-the-top streaming platform and a 4K HD automatic action-tracking camera – Joymo enables content creators to livestream sport directly to fans, athletes, coaches, referees and scouts.
Commenting on the partnership, Hockey Wales CEO, Ria Burrage-Male, said: “We’re thrilled to be leading the way in Wales and making our top-tier events available to a wider audience. Joymo enables us to engage hockey fans that can’t always attend events in person, giving supporters the flexibility to watch live or on demand across multiple devices. Broadcasting our content allows us to unlock an additional revenue stream which will help us ensure hockey remains accessible for all players across the country, from the grassroot game to our national teams.”
Mike Emery, CEO of Joymo, said: “We’re delighted to be teaming-up with Hockey Wales and realising the potential of our partnership with the Welsh Sports Association. Joymo is all about empowering sports organisers and participants – at all levels – by providing them with the tools and technology to broadcast directly to their fans. Joymo not only helps them to generate revenues, but also provides ownership of all advertising, sponsorship and user data – this is really valuable for sport federations and is often overlooked when content is made available on free social media platforms.”
Victoria Ward, Chief Executive of the WSA, added: “We’re thrilled that Hockey Wales have teamed-up with Joymo. We were impressed by the simplicity, safety, and cost-effective nature of the platform and have been actively encouraging our members to start streaming. The potential revenue generation for some members and their stakeholders is huge, and that can be significant in helping many sports clubs, leagues and competitions become financially sustainable after the devastating impact of the Covid pandemic. Joymo’s focus on safeguarding, secure data management and GDPR compliance is also impressive and should provide peace-of-mind to all users.”
Joymo was founded in Norway in late-2017 and soon after launched its remote broadcasting camera solution – the Joymo LiveCaster Pro. The third-generation model of the automated 4K HD camera was launched in early 2020 allowing federations, leagues and clubs to film or livestream games and/or training sessions in a safe, secure way.
Joymo places safeguarding, secure data management and GDPR compliance at the heart of its product, removing the risk for grassroots and longtail sport. An integral part of its streaming platform is secure storage of all content and data in accordance with national privacy regulations and GDPR.
In March 2020, Joymo launched its live streaming solution: Joymo Arena. All video content generated through the Joymo app is processed by the streaming platform and optimised for the best viewer experience.
In the last year, Joymo has successfully launched into the UK and Ireland and was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Sport Industry Awards. The partnership with Hockey Wales follows similar recent agreements with Northumberland Football Leagues, Lancashire FA, Basketball Ireland and the Welsh Sports Association.
