How Welsh Sports Association (WSA) Member Benefits can help you

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is the membership body for the sport and leisure industry in Wales, acting as the collective voice for the sector and proactively providing leadership, advocacy and a gateway to business & governance services to support its members. We define the ‘sport and leisure industry’ to mean anyone involved in the business of sport and leisure. So, if you’re a UK organisation that runs sporting events, fitness sessions, leisure classes or club matches in Wales, the WSA would be happy to support you with its plethora of member benefits

What does the WSA do?

As representatives for the sport & leisure sector, the WSA work collaboratively with organisations throughout the UK and Wales – including key strategic partners like Sport Wales, Welsh Government, the Welsh Council for Voluntary Action and Community Leisure UK.

The WSA ensure support services are designed with your specific needs in mind, so that member activity in Wales is sustainable and set up for a successful future.

If you’re reading this outside of Wales, don’t worry! As long as you’re an organisation or body with presence and activity in Wales, the WSA will happily welcome you to its ever-increasing list of members.

The WSA’s team of staff can advise on the specific regulatory landscape in Wales, including the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No. 5) (Wales) Regulations 2020, Welsh Government Guidance on Covid-19 and a whole host of other issues relating to the sport & leisure sector in Wales. The WSA are here to make sure you can operate effectively and efficiently in Wales and play your part in encouraging a more “Active, Vibrant Nation”.

What services does the WSA provide?

The WSA provide an extensive list of services to its members, with advocacy and policy as well as business support for those providing a healthier future to Wales at the heart of its mission.

From political monitoring and COVID-19 support to member partnerships and preferential rates, the WSA provide a whole host of popular services – such as its hugely competitive and utilised DBS checking service for sport and leisure.

At the Welsh Sports Association, however, we don’t rest; and we’re continuously striving to develop our membership offer. Members will be able to extend the support they gain from the WSA courtesy of the launch of Membership Plus in April 2022.

While there are currently a whole host of resources to pick and choose from and take advantage of, the WSA will shortly be releasing its newest service Membership Plus, which members can purchase on top of their standard membership and at their own discretion.

With a selection of focussed ‘bolt-on’ packages to provide a specialised and cost-effective service where members require it most, Membership Plus is just another step in facilitating resilience and room for growth for the sport and leisure sector in Wales.

Stay tuned for more updates and information about this exciting project!
