The Social Business Wales Awards 2018 has now been officially launched. Recognising excellence amongst the social business sector in Wales, the Awards have become a fantastic platform for many different types of social businesses to celebrate the successes and achievements of the last 12 months.

Valleys Gymnastics from Croespenmaen in Newport, scooped last yearโ€™s Consumer Facing category, taking home ยฃ1,000 in prize money. They were also shortlisted at the UK Social Enterprise finals in London. Melissa Anderson, Manager of Valleyโ€™s Gymnastics, reflects on last yearโ€™s success. She said:

โ€œWe were genuinely very surprised to win – but absolutely delighted. Our business had grown significantly in the 12-18 months prior to the Awards and it was fantastic that this was recognised nationally. As an organisation we have worked hard to diversify our offer and engage with the community beyond the traditional โ€˜ gymnasticsโ€™ offer. We have won several sporting awards previously so it was fantastic that the organisation / team was recognised for the work we have done in terms of business growth, staff development and reinvestment back into the organisation.โ€

Social businesses, which include social enterprises, mutuals, co-operatives and employee owned businesses, can receive an application pack for this yearโ€™s awards by visiting the Wales Co-operative Centreโ€™s website and registering their interest: http://bit.ly/sbwawards18
