Street Football Wales seeking sector support
Street Football Wales is currently facing a very difficult period, with funding under pressure and a real possibility of having to close unless they find short term support, and whilst they finalise a longer term solution. Street Football Wales is a national charity that uses football to support people affected by homelessness, mental health challenges and social isolation, providing regular sessions, a sense of community, and opportunities to move forward.
Just under seven years ago, they brought the Homeless World Cup to our country. Lives were changed, and an incredible spirit of togetherness and hope was born.
Since then, their charity has been working hard to raise funds to send teams to the Homeless World Cup, and support players behind the scenes. Last year, Street Football Wales’ Women’s team came 7th in the World!
Street Football Wales are doing everything they can to keep this work going — speaking to partners and supporters, and launching a public campaign this week to help sustain their sessions.
