WSA partners with online safeguarding organisation Freedom2hear

The WSA is delighted to announce a ground-breaking partnership with Freedom2hear, an organisation that specialises in digital safeguarding.

Freedom2hear strives to nurture a safer, kinder, and healthier future for all by protecting digital communities from hate and toxicity, safeguarding online spaces without compromising freedom of speech.

Freedom2hear is the Welsh Sports Association's Digital Safeguarding Partner.

Their proprietary AI solutions empower change through technology, supporting federations, clubs and athletes to remove hateful, illicit and illegal content online before it causes harm.

And through our partnership, WSA members will be able to take full advantage of these solutions.

Freedom2hear Social is easily integrated into social channels in seconds, and will:

  • Automatically hide toxicity and spam in real-time as detected by their cutting-edge context-aware AI.
  • Gain actionable insights into harmful trends and patterns.
  • Support the development of bespoke community policy guidelines tailored to each organisation.

Meanwhile, Freedom2hear Community can be integrated into an organisation’s owned communities and apps. It can:

  • Be proactive and monitor your proprietary in-app chat systems.
  • Grow your community safely with advanced settings tailored to your community’s cultural nuances.
  • Provide advanced analytics on toxicity trends to help you make informed strategic decisions.

“It’s unfortunate that a partnership like this is even necessary, but we’re proud to welcome Freedom2hear as our newest partner,” confirmed WSA CEO, Andrew Howard, at Wales Week London last month.

“The sporting community continues to face abhorrent levels of online abuse, highlighted recently by high-profile cases involving several Premier League players. Freedom2hear has become a vital element of safeguarding across the sector recently, and we’re delighted to bring their crucial work into Welsh sport.

“Their innovative technology will give WSA members a powerful tool to protect athletes, coaches and members from online toxicity and harm.”

The WSA urges members to get in touch to find out more about how Freedom2hear’s services can have a large impact on your organisation.

“Online abuse has become one of the most pressing challenges facing sport, and athletes, clubs and fans deserve digital spaces that are safe, respectful and inclusive,” added Mark Krendel, Freedom2hear’s CEO.

“Through our partnership with the WSA, we want to ensure sporting organisations are aware that effective solutions exist. By raising awareness of technologies like Freedom2hear, we can help protect athletes from harm while safeguarding federations, clubs and sponsors that strive for healthy online communities.”
