WSA renews partnership with Acorn to continue supporting sport& leisure’s recruitment needs

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is thrilled to announce that we have renewed our partnership with Acorn for a further two years, continuing our collaboration to support the recruitment needs of our members!

Acorn are one of the UK’s leading recruiters, consistently recognised for providing award-winning recruitment solutions. With a network of branches and specialist divisions based throughout the UK, they provide local and national permanent, temporary and contract recruitment support – doing so as a partner of the WSA!

Since our partnership was formed in 2017, Acorn have provided continued support to the sport and leisure sector across Wales. Courtesy of our agreement, WSA members can benefit from discounted rates on Acorn’s services in the search for new staff.

In addition, Acorn offer our member organisations a completely pro-bono service in their recruitment of non-executive directors at Board level.

This includes providing members with a comprehensive digital marketing campaign and advertising via a number of job boards, as well as cascading opportunities to an exclusive NED portfolio, encouraging the widest possible audience of potential applicants for any member vacancy.

This has been a hugely popular service, with many of our members opting to take advantage.

The Cardiff City FC Foundation are one member who have benefitted from the partnership. Their Director, Gavin Hawkey, stated:

“We recently worked with Acorn on two senior level appointments. They were successful in supporting us to explore the market, identify a diverse pool of candidates and secure the right people for the roles.

“Luke Robert, the Principal Consultant, took the time to understand both roles, our expectations and the organisation in general before commencing the search. We were impressed with the quality of service, particularly the responsiveness of the team and efficient yet personable way in which the search was managed.”

With the renewal of our agreement, Acorn’s offering will go beyond the initial scope of the original partnership, ensuring all members have access to all of Acorn’s capability. Our new partnership will include:

  • Free and non-obligatory recruitment advice to ensure members are aware of market expectations, pack content, advertising strategy, EDI, interview process and more.
  • Discounted rates on commercial & temp recruitment for all WSA Members.
  • Fixed rates on retained and Executive Search for senior recruitment.
  • Pro-bono advertising for NED vacancies across 12 different job boards (Reed, Jobsite, CV Library and others), along with promotion across Acorn’s social network.
  • Tailored search & selection campaigns for NED Vacancies at discounted rates are available.

Referencing the renewal, Acorn’s Operations Manager, Paul Anscombe, commented:

“Acorn Recruitment are very pleased to be renewing our partnership with the Welsh Sports Association, which has been in place since 2017, for a further two years.

“We’ve done an incredible amount with WSA members, and the sector has grown considerably in that time; we look forward to supporting the WSA and their members in their growth going forward.

“We highly value our relationship with Andrew and Tom at the WSA and our new partnership will maintain the much-sought support for non-executive recruitment, whilst also offering WSA members the chance to benefit from our other commercial recruitment services for all their hiring needs.”

The WSA’s Commercial Manager, Tom Sharp, added:

“The WSA are delighted to renew our partnership with Acorn for a further two years. We’re keen to support the sector in its recruitment needs and ensure that the sector improves in the diversity of its workforce.

“Through our agreement with Acorn – we’re committed to ensuring that candidates from ethnic minorities feel that sport & leisure is a place where they can seek employment and or give their time & talent to a volunteer NED position within the sector.”
