Canolfan Beaumaris join WSA as Full Member
The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is delighted to announced that Canolfan Beaumaris has joined its ranks as a Full Member.
The Anglesey-based centre is a sports, fitness and entertainment venue with charitable status, based in Beaumaris, Anglesey, and continues its development as a wellbeing hub for all.

With this membership, the Canolfan will now be part of a collective that connects with the wider sport and leisure sector.
Joining the WSA means that the Canolfan Beaumaris now has access to a variety of tailored professional services that can help to improve the operations of the centre such as safeguarding and first aid training. The center can also work with WSA-associated energy efficiency and legal advisors. Furthermore, with this new membership the Canolfan Beaumaris now has improved access to grants and funding streams and allows the center to stay current on government initiatives.
Membership also brings partnerships for the Canolfan such as preferential rates on insurance.

Canolfan Beaumaris Secretary, Karen Begley, said:
“The Canolfan is more than a leisure centre; it helps people to live well for longer. Our full programme of community activities, sports and fitness classes and recently refurbished gym make this possible, together with the generosity of our community as we recently raised over £50,000 through a crowdfunding initiative. Our many volunteers and highly trained workforce are dedicated to creating a warm welcome and safe space for all Canalfon users.
“As we transition to a community wellbeing hub, we need to take advantage of the collective learning of the WSA. Our transition requires ongoing investment and at a time when funding from grants, trusts and foundations is diminishing, we need to ensure we don’t miss out on anything.
“We not only work hard to provide the classes and activities our members enjoy, we are also responsible for the repair and upkeep of the building. Shared Learning through WSA may create savings and provide solutions to the challenges that come with the maintenance and operation of a large multi-purpose facility.”
Tom Sharp, WSA Commercial Manager, added:
“It was inspiring to meet with Karen and see the work of the Canolfan Beaumaris when we were in North Wales. The dedication of the team when it comes to sport and leisure and the important role it plays in the local community is clear to see and we are thrilled to have Canolfan Beaumaris as a full member of WSA.
“We are looking forward to supporting the organisation and help it to collaborate across our wider membership and partner network.”
