Covid-19 Awareness Training for Sport in Wales and the Home Nations

Covid-19 Awareness Training for Sport in Wales and the Home Nations

The Welsh Sports Association [WSA] and training provider Right Directions have developed a suite of online training courses to support the safe return of Sport in Wales and the Home Nations.

As Covid restrictions are eased in Wales and across the Home Nations, there is increasing demand on volunteers, coaches and venue staff to be Covid-19 aware.

The training runs through several general awareness modules containing information on topics such as Covid-19 considerations, cleaning principles, the use of PPE, risk assessments and looks at best practice behaviours across the range of key roles in sport.

Everyone from club volunteers, coaches and National Governing Body staff and premises operators are encouraged to take part in this course to demonstrate their commitment and competence, helping ensure a safe return to the sport and recreation sector for everyone.

Over recent months, sports organisations have come together to tackle some of the major issues arising from the Covid-19 crisis. The WSA and Right Directions have created this training as a key part of the collective strategy drawn up to support the safe return to activity across the sector.

The course has been prepared with reference to each of the Home Nations, differing government regulations and guidance surrounding the management of Covid-19, as well as information from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Health Service (NHS). The training course has also been accredited by CIMSPA.

Victoria Ward, CEO of WSA

“We put together this package because so many of our partners in sport were calling for information and advice on how to best manage the risk from Covid-19 as we get towards a new normal.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with our partners in Wales and across the UK to show how sport can play a responsible part in the recovery from Covid-19. “

Gill Twell, Head of Development

“We’re very proud to have created this course in partnership with the WSA to support all those involved in the sport and recreation sector. We are passionate about learner engagement and ultimately assisting with a safe and sustained return to play for everyone.”

Delegates can enrol onto this online course from 21st July 2020 via the following link: https://questnbs.org/training-events-conference/covid-19-awareness-course-wsa
