WSA members Genletics and Welsh Athletics collaborate to explore readiness intelligence for elite performance

WSA members Genletics and Welsh Athletics have collaborated in a project that explores readiness intelligence for elite performance.

The case study explores how physiological readiness patterns changed across an elite athlete altitude-camp cycle, and how the insight was subsequently used to help inform training exposure and post-travel reintegration planning.

The aim was to present the work in a concise, practitioner-friendly and operationally relevant way for coaches, performance directors and high-performance staff — focusing less on heavy science and more on practical application within elite sport environments.

The case study highlights:

  • how readiness patterns shifted across travel and altitude exposure
  • how periods of reduced readiness stability were identified
  • how training exposure and reintegration strategy were adjusted operationally
  • and the subsequent performance outcome observed following camp

More broadly, the objective is to introduce how readiness-informed planning may support areas such as:

  • athlete availability
  • camp integration
  • travel adaptation
  • reintegration planning
  • training exposure management

across high-performance sport environments in Wales.

WSA members are encouraged to get in touch with Genletics for an introductory conversation around the organisation’s work, potential pilot projects and future collaboration opportunities across Welsh sport.
