Gwella Wales joins WSA as Associate Member 

The Welsh Sports Association is thrilled to welcome Gwella Wales to the membership base as an Associate Member.  

Gwella is responsible for leisure, library and wellbeing services across Flintshire, on behalf of Flintshire County Council.  

The company employs more than 280 permanent staff across its large portfolio of libraries and leisure centres, including facilities in Deeside, Mold, Flint and Buckley. 

Gwella’s focus is helping local people live well through accessible, high-quality community facilities and experiences.

The company was established in November 2024 following a re-organisation of library and leisure services in the county. The organisation has recently appointed its first Managing Director, Andrew Bentley. 

Upon joining the WSA as an Associate Member, Andrew Bentley commented: 

“I’m very pleased that Gwella Wales is joining the Welsh Sports Association as an Associate Member. 

“As a new organisation responsible for delivering leisure, library and wellbeing services across Flintshire, we are focused on strengthening partnerships that help us deliver better outcomes for local communities.  

“Joining the WSA aligns with our commitment to high-quality, accessible services and gives us a stronger platform to share and learn from others in Welsh sport and physical activity.”
