Shortlist for Sustainability in Sport Fund announced

In collaboration with Admiral, the Welsh Sports Association is delighted to announce the shortlist for this year’s Sustainability in Sport Fund.

The second round of the Fund will see another £100,000 available to organisations and clubs presenting initiatives which deliver positive environmental impacts across Wales.

The WSA is grateful to the 25 organisations that took to the time to submit applications, and is thrilled to see the passion, vision and determination within the sector to drive sustainable change.

In the end, however, a total of eight organisations within the WSA membership have made the shortlist and will have the opportunity to pitch their projects at Ty Admiral in Cardiff on Monday 23rd March, applying for grants worth up to £25,000 each.

They are…

  • The Cardiff City FC Community Foundation for their Stadium of the Future project
  • Gogledd Cymru Actif North Wales for their youth-led sustainability in sports clubs initiative
  • Malpas Cricket Club for their Rainwater Harvesting & Sustainable Pitch Irrigation project
  • Snowdonia Active for the Sustainable Adventure Project
  • Street Football Wales for the Y Gêm Werdd project
  • Triathlon Cymru for the Safer Blue Spaces Wales initiative
  • Beicio Cymru for the Learn to ride; your transport, your life initiative
  • Doraiba Judo Club for the Fuel Their Fight project

We will be delving deeper into each initiative in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out on WSA’s LinkedIn page to find out more!

The WSA looks forward to seeing representatives of all eight parties at Ty Admiral in March, and wish everyone the best of luck with their pitches.

WSA CEO Andrew Howard said:

“The quality and ambition of the applications we received this year have been truly inspiring. It’s clear that our Members across Wales are not only recognising the importance of sustainability but are leading the way with innovative, practical solutions that will create lasting environmental impact.

“We are proud to work alongside Admiral to support these initiatives and empower our members to drive meaningful change, with their invaluable support helping to encourage sustainable action across the sport and leisure sector.

“I look forward to seeing each of the shortlisted projects brought to life during the pitch event in March, and I wish all our finalists the very best of luck.”

The judging panel will include representatives from Admiral, the WSA and BASIS – The British Association for Sustainable Sport.

Each initiative will be judged on a range of criteria, including their potential positive impact for Wales, influence on behavioural change, innovation and creativity, collaboration, readiness and measurability.
