WSA’s Keepy Uppy Champion, Tom Sharp, joined this year’s CEO Kickabout, the annual event which brings together business leaders from across Wales for a day of football, tactical insight and networking.
Held at the FAW’s National Football Development Centre at Dragon Park, Newport, this unique charity football day for CEOs and company directors has been developed jointly by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) Trust and Acorn’s Executive Search Division, to raise money for the FAW Trust’s community development work in promoting grassroots football across Wales.
Reflecting on the success of last year’s Kickabout, FAW Trust CEO Neil Ward said:
“The FAW Trust aims to encourage more people, male and female, of all ages to play football, to ensure the future success of Wales’ national teams, and events like this make a huge contribution to achieving our goals.”
The day kicked off with a tactical insight and analysis masterclass led by Wales’ Assistant Manager Osian Roberts, in conjunction with Steve Dimmick at Doopoll. With the audience then being treated to a World Cup Q&A with former player and Welsh football pundit, Owain Tudur Jones, and a former Wales rugby fly-half and British and Irish Lion, Stephen Jones, before teams were selected for afternoon’s six-a-side tournament.
It’s fair to say experienced football managers Carl Darlington, Mickey Flynn and Gavin Chesterfield had their hands full juggling the exceptional talent and unorthodox football techniques! The fun-filled day was concluded by Dan Langford, Director at Acorn, with an awards ceremony to complement the superb BBQ, and the World Cup Quarter Final.
