“Great logistical support”: Disability Sport Wales take advantage of Gray Dawes

Gray Dawes Sports specialise in making travel effortless for sporting organisations, and the WSA partner has recently done just that for Disability Sport Wales.

At the back end of 2025, DSW took a team out to visit Deaf Sports Australia as part of a Taith Pathway 2 project.

“The aim of the visit,” explained Libby Steele, DSW’s Deaf Sport Senior Officer, “was to learn about the governance structures and development of Deaf Sports Australia, and understand more about their Deaf Sport pathways to bring back and contribute to the development of Deaf Sport in Wales.”

Crucially, this collaboration undertaken by DSW will directly benefit and influence practice within fellow WSA member Wales Deaf Sport, allowing them to develop to be a thriving and sustainable organisation.

And the pathway work will lay the foundation for collaboration between Deaf Sports organisations, NGBs and UK-wide partners like UK Deaf Sport to provide a consistent infrastructure and clear pathway for deaf participants across a range of sports.

“We also wanted to learn about the implementation of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) within educational settings and the different provisions available for deaf children,” Libby continued. “This has potential to support some wider work within Deaf Education in Wales.”

It’s fantastic to see such valuable and collaborative work from within the WSA membership base, and the WSA is delighted to have connected DSW with Gray Dawes to facilitate such an exchange.

“Gray Dawes provided support with flight bookings to and from Australia,” confirmed Libby. “Due to timetables, there were different flights required by different people, so they handled the logistics and bookings for ease.

“With the travel distance, number of people and different flights required, it was considerably easier and less stressful having a third party book the flights,” she continued. “It also provided another level of reassurance that if there were any issues with the flights or bookings, we could go to Gray Dawes to support

“Overall, the service was good, and we were happy as it provided great logistical support for the trip,” she concluded. “They were quick to respond via email and met our requirements for the flights and budget, providing multiple options across airlines, layovers and airports. Any issues were resolved quickly, and information was communicated well.”
