Hannah Hopes joins the WSA Board
At the Welsh Sports Association’s (WSA) General Meeting in Thursday 12 June 2025, Hannah Hopes was appointed to the WSA Board as a representative of the National Governing Bodies.
Hannah is Head of HR at WSA member Football Association of Wales (FAW), having worked there for four years and seen the organisation grow from 67 staff members to over 180 through the introduction of new areas of work, strengthening the existing functions, and the merger of the FAW and FAW Trust in 2022.
Hannah has a career in HR spanning 13 years with experience working in the engineering and manufacturing sectors before moving to the FAW in 2021, having also completed her HR Management masters from the University of South Wales in 2016.
At the FAW, Hannah is responsible for all people matters including recruitment, employee engagement, learning and development, performance management and ensuring compliance with employment law and people best practise. Hannah is part of the Senior Leadership Team at the FAW and works with her senior colleagues to define the strategic direction for football in Wales.
Football is also a big part of Hannah’s life outside of work, in her spare time she is the Chair of a grassroots football club as well as helping to coach the girls U10s team and running the club’s Huddle sessions for 4-11 year old girls. Hannah is also a passionate Charlton Athletic fan and tries to see them play as often as possible.
Hannah commented:
“I’m really pleased to join the WSA board. I hope my skills and knowledge both from my HR background and time working at the FAW will be beneficial to support the WSA and its members.
“I am passionate about the positive impact that sport has and look forward driving this forward as part of the WSA board.”
