Meleri Thomas joins WSA Board of Directors
The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is delighted to welcome Meleri Thomas to the Board of Directors, following the departure of Kate Stokes-Davies.
Meleri has proudly worked with the BBC as a marketing manager for the past 15 years and is passionate about the organisation’s role as a public service broadcaster in bringing value to all audiences.
She is experienced in managing multiplatform campaigns for the BBC, from launching Welsh language radio stations to the Six Nations to big UK dramas.
A member of the BBC Wales leadership group, a large part of Meleri’s role is also to lead projects linked to inclusivity across the department and ensure processes run smoothly.
A Welsh speaker and a sport fanatic, Meleri brings many skills and attributes to the WSA Board outside of professional life, too.
She was the team manager to her son’s rugby team for years and still enjoys supporting both children in their rugby and football participation.
Keeping active has always been important to Meleri, from her early years in Poppit Sands surf-life saving club to her recent challenge of walking 49 miles across Wales in one day.
A huge passion of Meleri’s is inclusivity, committed to the belief that everyone should have access to the opportunity to enjoy keeping physically active.
Meleri attended her first Board meeting on Thursday 11 July. On her appointment, she commented:
“It’s a huge privilege to join the WSA board. I look forward to getting stuck in and seeing how my skills and experience can contribute to a stronger future for sport in Wales.”
