Ramblers Cymru become Full Members of the WSA
The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is happy to welcome Ramblers Cymru to the membership base as a Full Member.
Ramblers Cymru is the Welsh branch of the long-standing charity, Ramblers Association.
Since 1935, the charity has been committed to campaigning to keep the countryside open to all and to fighting for the things that matter most to walkers.
The organisation is dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces, and to improving Britain’s most popular and least-known walking places. They lead the way, and the walks, for a vibrant community united by the joys of walking, helping everyone get more out of their walks.
Ramblers have helped open up vast swathes of the British countryside which were out of bounds, and made sure laws were amended and added to keep it that way.
The organisation fought to establish National Parks and National Trails, and successfully campaigned for everyone to enjoy Britain’s coastline on foot.
They continue to secure support from government and help construct national and local policies and programmes to build a future fit for everyone everywhere to walk outdoors, engaging communities and organisations across the country to do so.
Joining the WSA as Full Members, Ramblers Cymru will take advantage of the wider network of organisations across the entire sport and leisure sector.
Ramblers Cymru Interim Director, Gail Graham, commented:
“We’re delighted to join the membership of the WSA, who support a diverse body of sports and recreation organisations and provide a range of services to help the sector develop resilience.
“We look forward to accessing specialist support enabling us to open the way for all communities across Wales to enjoying walking outdoors.”
