WSA and CIMSPA sign MOU, with members set to benefit

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

CIMSPA is the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector, committed to supporting, developing and enabling professionals and organisations to succeed and, as a result, inspire the nation to become more active.

The organisation strives to shape a recognised, valued and inclusive sport and physical activity sector that everyone can be a part of.

As part of the MOU between our two organisations, both the WSA’s and CIMSPA’s networks will benefit.

The vast range of resources offered by the WSA will become available to the CIMSPA network.

CIMSPA members will therefore be able to benefit from services such as the WSA Online Training Platform, the Procurement Portal for Sport and Leisure, the Coaches Insurance Portal and the renowned WSA DBS service for sport and leisure.

With all profits reinvested back into the sport and leisure sector, the WSA DBS service is also one of the most cost-effective and trusted on the market, with CIMSPA members now also able to take advantage of discounted member rates.

Meanwhile, the MOU sees the WSA become a Training Provider Partner of CIMSPA, attaining the organisation’s endorsement of the WSA Online Training Platform and training courses.

WSA members will also be offered discounted rates to join CIMSPA, whose work in Wales will now align with the WSA’s own strategy.

WSA CEO, Andrew Howard, commented:

“At the WSA we value partnership and the ability to connect our members with partners who can bring added value to the sector, so we are delighted to have signed this MOU with CIMSPA, an important and trusted organisation within our sector.

“Enabling, empowering and upskilling ourselves and our members is an important strategic action for the WSA so we hope the advantages of the partnership will spread far and wide. We are thrilled to offer WSA members the opportunity to take advantage of an extensive and varied CIMSPA network, while we hope CIMSPA members will benefit from the range of WSA resources now available to them.”

CIMSPA CEO, Tara Dillon, added:

“CIMSPA is a UK-wide professional body, and we continue to work devolved functions in Wales, to move towards professionally recognised sport and physical activity service provision and skills education delivery.

“A CIMSPA training provider partnership gives the WSA an opportunity to have their education and training reviewed against professional standards in the sport, fitness, leisure, and physical activity sector.

“We have a rapidly growing number of employers committing to only using CIMSPA recognised training, so this MOU provides a powerful stamp of approval for the WSA and their training offer.”
