WSA attend collaboration event between member RBI Wales and Major League Baseball and Softball

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) were delighted to attend a Play Ball event, a collaboration between our Member organisation RBI Wales Baseball Softball and Major League Baseball & Softball, at fellow Member Cardiff Metropolitan University on Wednesday morning.

Over 300 schoolchildren participated in the event in the Cyncoed sunshine and had the opportunity to meet an MLB legend.

David Eckstein played professionally for the St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays and San Diego Padres amongst others and he won the 2006 World Series Most Valuable Player Award, and was present in Cardiff on Wednesday as the children met a sporting legend.

After meeting Eckstein, the school children from Cardiff and the Vale participated in fun baseball activities, teaching them the key skills of the increasingly popular game.

The event received global recognition as one of a handful of UK cities hosting this event and a television crew from MLB TV was on site to send the footage back across the Atlantic.

The WSA is thrilled for RBI Wales having hosted us at such a fantastic, large-scale event, and it was brilliant to see such buzz around the sport among the next generation.
