WSA receives endorsement from CIMSPA for Level 1 First Aid in Sport training course
The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) training course Level 1 First Aid in Sport has received official CPD accreditation from the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
The endorsement means that the course is worth two CIMSPA CPD Points. Endorsed CPD means that training has been quality assured by CIMSPA and is delivered by a CIMSPA education partner.
Level 1 First Aid in Sport is one of the courses that exist on the WSA Online Training Platform, provided in collaboration with training platform providers eCoach.
The platform is designed to support colleagues across sport and leisure to participate in accredited professional development, building resilience and aiding development across our sector.
The training covers essential areas, first aid being a duty of care for all coaches and volunteers.
Level 1 First Aid in Sport is pitched at an introductory level and perfect for onboarding new coaches and volunteers. Participants will benefit from a broad introduction to essential first aid, which includes key areas for sport such as basic life support and CPR, how to operate a defibrillator, managing head injuries and more.
At the end of the course, which takes around 4-5 hours to complete, participants should have the confidence and knowledge to create a Medical Emergency Action Plan (MEAP) for their club.

The course will teach participants how to prevent injury and promote safety measures as a coach or volunteer, and how to initiate first aid whilst waiting for a medical professional.
Alongside Level 1 First Aid in Sport, colleagues can take advantage of Introduction to Sports Governance in Wales, Legal Structures for Sports Clubs, and Data Protection Fundamentals for Sports & Leisure Organisations – all live and ready to be completed on the WSA Online Training Platform!
The WSA will also be releasing a Strategic Planning course later this month.
